D H Dunlap Associates Inc. have emerged as innovators in the planning, design, and operations of healthcare facilities including assisted living in the Boston. Pragmatic planning strategies, innovative design, and the well being of Residents reflect our philosophy; providing clients with a successful facility that is both functional and distinctive. For over forty years, we have evolved with and witnessed advancements in medical and social science, patient models of care, and information technology. We recognize the exciting opportunities these changes represent and are sensitive to the impact and ever increasing demands and cost to our clients in the healthcare industry.

We have gathered a wide range of experience over the past forty years and are continuously exploring creative and practical design solutions that will effectively meet clients’ needs. It is our intention to encourage a continuum of healthcare services either through a campus approach or multiple sites. Our experience has been multi-faceted, and involves a unique blend of new projects constructed from the ground up, and retrofitting existing buildings into a multitude of uses such as Acute Care, LTAC units, Sub-Acute Care and Life Enrichment Programs (Alzheimer’s Units) located in Long-Term Care facilities to Head Trauma Rehabilitation Centers.

DHDA has established successful long-term relationships with many of the agencies involved in long-term care planning and acute-care planning. Our firm has acquired extensive knowledge in code compliance relative to authorities who have local, state and federal jurisdiction. We are able to assist clients in exploring financing options with experience and proficiency with REIT, HUD’s federally-guaranteed programs with a non-recourse component and self-financing. As a result, we are able to develop Construction Documents that meet the funding agency’s requirements in a timely and comprehensive manner.

We provide architectural services to not only to non-profit entities but also publicly-held companies and sole proprietors. Understanding the growth of the industry provides perspective in bringing our services to a client. If a provider is to be successful in the present healthcare climate, they must think outside the box and look at developing specialized services to the individuals that need them, in addition to methods of reimbursement.
